Redstone Rainbow

By Jacob Billings

Sometimes, you get lucky when you head out for a shoot. This evening, I was planning to head out to catch the Aurora, which was predicted to reach Las Vegas. On my drive out, I noticed some storm clouds forming and almost turned around to change locations, but I told myself go, you never know what will pop up. Sure enough, 15 minutes into my hike, it started to rain on me. I took shelter under the sandstone formations for a bit, but soon after the rain stopped, a beautiful rainbow popped up! I’ve never had an opportunity to capture a rainbow while out shooting, so it was a bit of a panicky scramble to find a composition before it disappeared. I couldn’t be happier with the result and the reminder that no matter what, just get out there!
